Carry Planner All the Time??

One of the tenets I thought David Allen put forward was to carry what ever you used as your planner (notebook or PDA) at all times. I can see the value of capturing something that comes to me at dinner, but using either of these mechanisms seems a bit much. What sort of balance do you strike?

I also use my Moleskine...

I also use my Moleskine as my UCD. I also carry a pocket sized year calender. The two are pretty much a set and I always have them in my jacket or in my bag.
I use the Moleskine to write down more detailed info and the calender as more a planning document.
