tagging files on pc, mac or linux

Hi:
I have been playing around with different system to organize my files. DT, Yojimbo etc.

In some situations I feel folders are better and in others tags. Punakea is great but I fear about what to do If i have to access my files on a pc.

How are you dealing with tags on mixed computer environments?

but what good apps are in windows and linux like punakea?
apps that create a tagcloud of all my used tags, ability to add, edit files.

i dont want to have all nicely tagged and then it is useless if it is not cross plattform.
