Projects, esp. someday/maybe
pooks | Dec 26 2006
This probably should go in the lofi discussion, but I decided to put it here so people can share various methods. I've just returned from the office supply store where I picked up a couple of thousand index cards. (I'm going to be using them for various projects, not just this.) For the first time I feel like I can get a better handle on my "projects," because I intend to put a single project on each index card and file in my card file. A 3x5 just feels so much more compact and manageable to me, especially those things I can't work on right now. I haven't decided exactly how to organize them. Probably by contexts -- @ home (projects to be done around the house), will be kept separate from projects like @ family (things I want to do for my mom or kids) or whatever. I already have separate file drawers for my work -- writing and teaching, so I guess they'll each have their own collection of someday/maybe cards at the back, too. Anybody else? 8 Comments

If I were to use index cards as my medium, I would definitely go with 1 project per card. It makes it easy to focus in on a single project and I imagine you could spread out several projects for an overview. Index cards do not work well for me, aside from capture. I highly reccomend people give business card size cards a shot for capture and rapid idea organization. I picked them up from Levenger on a whim, and I really love them. » POSTED IN:
