MegaProjects- to Split or NOT to split? - kGTD, Plans, etc.rusted System: Palm Treo?
Dr. J | Dec 11 2006
Hi there- I'm gradually getting the hang of things- after fighting it for a month, I've given up and seen the light about contexts. I tried to mini-map them into mini-projects, but finally realized if I need to, just look at my Q$#TQ#ing plan! Here's the challenge: I'm using kGTD to track everything (basically just a way to manage things inside of OmniOutliner) - and have life, general work, home, etc. in here. I've got a MEGA project here- my Doctoral Thesis Revision that I URGENTLY need productivity on. I've been stalling for a year and now am ready to tackle the beast. I have roughly 8-12 Sub-projects/areas of focus inside of my thesis, each with sub-areas/etc. that may crop up as I flesh out the plan. Should I lump this into my overall life GTD/etc. outline, or keep it segregated? Plus: Clarity/view/etc. (But could also be done by hiding/collapsing everything else in OmniOutliner) I think I've answered my own question, but what do you think? Thanks for your help! 2 Comments

Mega-Projects (which take more than roughly 2 months (my arbitrary definition)) I split them into 2 parts. The successfull outcome becomes a goal. I have a list of major goals for each area of focus. Each goal has to have at least von project tied to it. So the second part would be the next project involved in reaching the goal. So this would look like this: -Areas of Focus You may want to check out this posting: » POSTED IN:
