memorabilia

My wife and I need to file and store the various items that come into our life through our kids that we want to save such as class photos, report cards, drawings, papers, etc. Anyone have a good system for that sort of thing?

That's why I would think it'd be key to be choosy with what you dump in the tub. The fatal mistake would be to put everything in there with the idea that someday you'd go through it all and decide what you want to keep. Decide on the spot and it seems like a good process.

I would think the beauty of this system is that you DON'T feel you need to go through it all. Ever. Assuming you have the storage space, you would then end up with a neatly stratified pile of memorabilia. The best thing is that all of those things would be out of your mind. Someday in the future you'll find the box (a pleasant surprise!) and embark on some nostalgic archaeology.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
