My wife and I need to file and store the various items that come into our life through our kids that we want to save such as class photos, report cards, drawings, papers, etc. Anyone have a good system for that sort of thing?

I had a friend who...

I had a friend who has 13 boxes of "stuff" for each kid. On the first day of kindergarten, whatever the kid brought home got dated and stuck on the fridge, and then in a fairly deep cardboard box just the right size for school papers. She just kept piling the stuff in the box more or less chronologically with no effort to do any more to it than that, as far as organizing, etc. End of the year, it got taped up and stored in the attic.

She made it seem so simple.

It worked.

ETA: I think this falls under the David's idea that the more complex you make it, the less likely you are to do it.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless
