To Be Read

I have discovered that I am happiest and most likely to use any system when it is either visible or within reach or both. If it requires me to get up from my desk/chair, I'm more likely to lay it on the floor beside me until I'm ready to move (ha!) or lay it on my desk until I'm ready to move (ha-ha!).

So as I examine my desk and environs, one thing I'm noticing is the amount of things that I have that are TBR (to be read) that are somewhat time sensitive, rather than just my books that are waiting for me to have time or the right mood to dig in. Some of these things are rather bulky (scripts) and others are just magazines or newsletters that have info I need to see or act on, along with typical stuff. Often too much for an in-basket.

How do you handle this kind of thing? And any tricks for actually getting around to reading it?

Pooks,

I love you. I was just trying to find the right person to share this with, and you have stepped forward without even knowing it!

A = V exp (-x? -t?)

For me I tag everything -- if I am supposed to read something, I put a note about it in the project/context.

If I put something or file it or stash it in a pile I make a note of what pile/stash/folder/cabinet/trainwreck I hid it in with the action/project.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
