Waiting For's & Agenda's
Nick | Oct 16 2006
I have a question that has bugged me for quite some time. As background, please know that I use Omni/Kinkless/ICal the way Merlin hooked it up. I have about 12 contexts & agenda-calendar's in ICal that contain my GTD lists. What I don't know is how to keep my Waiting 4's associated with their original agenda. For example, if I have a meeting with John and he is supposed to get back to me re: such & who, my current methodology is to re-direct that todo from John's agenda to Waiting For. Obviously, the problem here is that, that-which-I'm-waiting for is no longer associated with John, but is now in a list of other waiting fo's. How do you, fellow posters, handle this conundrum? Thanks, Nick 13 Comments

All-Things-Nicky Take TwoSubmitted by Nick on October 17, 2006 - 8:21am.
Sounds like your "stuff" re: Nicky does exist in two places. One is in his Agenda and the other is on your generic W/F card. Your describing D. Allen's system to a tee and I find the W4 list to be, in some cases, not maximally productive. To quote my first post: "What I don't know is how to keep my Waiting 4's associated with their original agenda." Perhaps, I should have been more explicit. My goal is to have All-Things-Nicky that are moving parts on the Nicky list, so that when I have a face to face or I'm on the phone, it's right there in front of me, in one place. I don't find that it helps the conversation much to have to hunt through my Waiting 4 list to find the 1, 2, 3 or more things I'm waiting for from Nicky. It's inefficient and it's distracting to see all of those other items that have nothing to do w/my conversation w/Nicky. With a paper system this would be simple. You could use a highlighter -- use a different color highlighter than you use for completed tasks. If your anti-highlighter you could use an asterik, a star... there's a million ways to delineate the Action as a W4 AND still keep the the W4 in Nicky's@context/action - in one place. However, using ICal is somewhat more limiting in that I can't easily flag them. It would be great if someone had an AppleScript that had a "Mail Act-on" type trigger that colored/highlighted the NA as waiting for. Thanks for your posts. » POSTED IN:
