Patrick Rhone: 'Data Point'?
cheapo | Sep 26 2006
In the white paper mentioned in this 43Folders post, the author includes a notation for a "data point". I am curious, what is a data point? [URL="http://patrickrhone.com/journal/archives/2006/05/175.html"] 3 Comments

In parlance, I think most people use it to mean one fact, one opinion, etc. The implication being that it's not necessarily representative of a trend line, etc. Yep, that is how I am using it. Perhaps I should have chosen a different term but could not think of one at the time that quantified the things I use it for. I think I should further clarify how I take notes because it may help. When taking notes, I basically put a leading dash before each item I write down. For instance, on a "Money for Couples" course Bethany and I took before marriage: - Women tend to have little stashes of money that create an illusion of safety. - Two parts to money. 1) Management Part. 2) Money part. - 80% is management. - Create a card with new money beliefs you would like to have for yourself. In this example I would, after the class, go down that page and mark things up based on the dash/plus. In this case, the first three items would get a triangle and the final one would move to a action or project list and therefore I would draw a circle around the dash indicating that with a note to where I moved it (i.e. Backpack: Inbox) » POSTED IN:
