GTD - so far, falling off the wagon & dilemmas dilemmas...
direwolf | Jul 30 2006
I know, unwieldy subject title but it encapsulates where I am now. Some of GTD is working well for me, some isn't [I should probably say, *I'm* not working well] but I've only known about it for a few months so I guess I'm still at the 'tweak & bed in' phase. What's working; email - both work & home email clients now have @Action, @Reference & @Waiting folders which I put to good use. home inbox - I've now got an established physical inbox for stuff that previously used to spread out around the place [bills, CDs for re-filing etc] What's not working; weekly review - keep forgetting to do it [!] collection tools / NA lists - went for the analogue 3x5 card approach but whilst they hold everything, they look a bit bad [handwriting isn't the best] and I tend to not carry them with me anymore [like to travel light]. So, there I am at the moment. Maybe I should reconsider using some sort of PDA for collection/diary but I really wanted to go for something that didn't crash / need recharging / need re-synching but we'll see. Any thoughts / encouragement appreciated! Thanks. 18 Comments

Have you tried the pocketmod? I LOVE pocketmods for collection. - I can have multiple ones around so I never leave it at home. There's no way that I would buy 5 moleskine notebooks just to have one always at hand. - I know that I'll throw it away when it's full (typically 5-7 days) so I don't worry about how nicely I'm writing. This allows me to get down ideas, even while I'm walking. I wouldn't want to "mess up" a nice notebook the way I scribble on pocketmods. - This ephemeral aspect also emphasizes to me that it's only a "collection" device. Everything still has to processed into a more permanent form, or it will be lost. If I had a nice notebook that was nicely ordered and nicely written, I might find myself less likely to process the items because "Well, everything's so nice already; do I really need to do something more with it?" » POSTED IN:
