GTD - so far, falling off the wagon & dilemmas dilemmas...
direwolf | Jul 30 2006
I know, unwieldy subject title but it encapsulates where I am now. Some of GTD is working well for me, some isn't [I should probably say, *I'm* not working well] but I've only known about it for a few months so I guess I'm still at the 'tweak & bed in' phase. What's working; email - both work & home email clients now have @Action, @Reference & @Waiting folders which I put to good use. home inbox - I've now got an established physical inbox for stuff that previously used to spread out around the place [bills, CDs for re-filing etc] What's not working; weekly review - keep forgetting to do it [!] collection tools / NA lists - went for the analogue 3x5 card approach but whilst they hold everything, they look a bit bad [handwriting isn't the best] and I tend to not carry them with me anymore [like to travel light]. So, there I am at the moment. Maybe I should reconsider using some sort of PDA for collection/diary but I really wanted to go for something that didn't crash / need recharging / need re-synching but we'll see. Any thoughts / encouragement appreciated! Thanks. 18 Comments

more thoughts. after having done a 'weekly review' this evening, i think i've identified one of my problems [apart from self-discipline...]. it's the index cards, i'm just not getting on with them, something about them being fiddly & separate [even if clipped together they'd be prone to coming adrift when shuffling them about, i'm a bit clumsy]. just not elegant enough for my dexterity, i think i need something 'all-in-one' that wouldn't need quite so much fiddling, something i can just 'grab & go' i'm ok with the diary & there's *some* space in the back that could be utilised for lists. however - i did spot a small moleskine planner in waterstones the other day [handily running from july '06] but didn't check it out properly as they were all shrink-wrapped - anyone know if they've got blank sheets that could be used for lists ? it's bigger than my diary [slightly] but the pocket thing appeals as an 'inbox' during the day. i'm still trying to avoid electronic tools if possible. i'll probably mod my diary initially as i don't have masses of stuff on lists. ever onwards :) » POSTED IN:
