GTD - so far, falling off the wagon & dilemmas dilemmas...
direwolf | Jul 30 2006
I know, unwieldy subject title but it encapsulates where I am now. Some of GTD is working well for me, some isn't [I should probably say, *I'm* not working well] but I've only known about it for a few months so I guess I'm still at the 'tweak & bed in' phase. What's working; email - both work & home email clients now have @Action, @Reference & @Waiting folders which I put to good use. home inbox - I've now got an established physical inbox for stuff that previously used to spread out around the place [bills, CDs for re-filing etc] What's not working; weekly review - keep forgetting to do it [!] collection tools / NA lists - went for the analogue 3x5 card approach but whilst they hold everything, they look a bit bad [handwriting isn't the best] and I tend to not carry them with me anymore [like to travel light]. So, there I am at the moment. Maybe I should reconsider using some sort of PDA for collection/diary but I really wanted to go for something that didn't crash / need recharging / need re-synching but we'll see. Any thoughts / encouragement appreciated! Thanks. 18 Comments

Have you tried the pocketmod? http://www.pocketmod.com/ IfSubmitted by mdl on July 31, 2006 - 7:41am.
Have you tried the pocketmod? If you work from a stable home base (i.e., a trusted system at home, either computer or paper), then you might consider the very lightweight and customizable pocketmod (a small folded paper booklet with eight pages). You could set it up to contain a few action lists and a few pages for collection. While you're at home, you can copy your most pressing next actions to the list pages. And during the day, you can jot down new "stuff" in the collection pages. At the end of the day, you can process the new stuff and update your home system. If your needs aren't too intense, it's probably the most portable solution out there. » POSTED IN:
