Help me stick to it

I flout my GTD, all the time.

I'm currently having real difficulties following my GTD routine and because of this i'm letting things slip. I've recently been getting home from work and not doing anything at all, flouting my next actions and deciding what to do there and then (which usually involves playing games or watching TV).

Today i'm sat in work and i don't even have a copy of my NA's or my moleskine to hand, i've left them abandoned at home in my bag.

I love GTD but i'm having great difficulty applying myself to it. Has anyone got any suggestions which may help me stick to my routine?

Hey Flexible and Sonia! ...

Hey Flexible and Sonia! This thread is fantastic!!

First: what is the word-doc trick? Can you post a link to that discussion so I can check it out (as well as anyone else on here)? [I'm lazy... if you don't post it, don't worry, I'll dig it up!!] ;)

Second: Flexible- you deserve a hearty "AMEN" to that last post, man. hours and hours lost online. I couldn't agree with you more. I also really really like Sonia's idea of hacking a 90 minute block for serious sit-down work without being interrupted. I might try and swing the 10+2x5 hack into that... do a sort of 10+2x8 or something... essentially trying to keep my "oh, I need another drink of water, or to make a snack or to check e-mail" down to that 2 minute window in there. It may not be as effective as the 90 minute idea, there Sonia, but honestly, I think I'd shy away from the 90 minute sit-down, as I'm a fabulously successful procrastinator. ;)

About the joys/vices in life: I completely agree, Flexible. We need a few little vices to get a bit of excellent joy in life. If you ever want to chat about pipes etc., don't be afraid to get in touch! I can steer you away from a potentially unenjoyable start, or at least try and increase your enjoyment if you do. ;)

Ok, speaking of procrastination- I've gotta get back to reviewing my tasks and getting things done. ;)

[Flexible- thanks for checking out the blog, man! :) - I felt kinda shoddy not giving the link here, so I'm gonna do so now: http://http-server.carleton.ca/~tpychyl/index.html

They have a great pod-cast that's helping me to understand procrastination a bit better than I used to.

Cheers, everyone! Hoping the rest of your week is highly productive and a bunch of fun!

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
