The Evil Empire is listening

Found this on the Task and Time Management in Outlook blog on MSDN [that is Microsoft for you Appleheads]:

Melissa MacBeth, Features Designer for Microsoft Outlook wrote:
We then did research to figure out how to modify Outlook in order to help people to be more effective at managing their time. We looked at many different time management systems, including Getting Things Done by David Allen, Take Back Your Life! By Sally McGhee and her Microsoft training course, Managing Actions, The Organized Executive by Stephanie Winston, the Franklin Covey/Quest model, Time Management from the Inside Out by Julie Morgenstern, among others.

There is a lot of good stuff coming in Outlook 2007. I just installed it last night, and I may be moving back to it for my GTD system. You can download the Outlook 2007 beta at Microsoft's site.

Set your mail client to...

Set your mail client to leave mail on the server for x number of days. Then you can download and have your mail archived locally but still have the most recent stuff available on gmail.

I downloaded the beta as well hoping maybe they put the file view back in but its not there. The menu system has gotten worse, yes I undertsand their idea of keep the most used in front but it makes it even harder to find the less used items and thinks keep moving. You want your UI to stay consistant so you don't have to take your mind off what your working on to make a simple menu choice. I see a lot more people going to text based entry to get keep with their thought flow. I'm even more glad I have converted to OpenOffice.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
