My Productivity Whitepaper

Just thought I would finally offer up my productivity whitepaper for folks to check out if they wanted. I was inspired by Emory's now famous GTD Whitepaper to try to get my org-fu all laid out in one piece for all to see. It is only about 75% done right now but good enough to get it out there.

Check it out at my blog here:

I would welcome your comments or suggestions

Thanks so much Patrick. This is one area that I am really struggling with right now. I feel that a total revamp of my system is upon me. I have never understoond this Model that Allen uses until I re-read the chapter for our GTD Primer that I posted today.

I plan on doing some serious 20K, 30K and 40K thinking this weekend to help me grasp what I feel is missing from my life.

I look forward to the additional writings on your vertical mappings in the Org-Fu.

Michael

I should note that I also struggled with this for a while. The key was to simply start at the bottom and work my way up. I have only recently started forming the 40,000 ft. stuff. That gives you some idea of the fact that I am just a baby at this stuff as well. That being said, once I started to outline my areas of responsibility (20,000 ft.) it was a huge motivating factor to do the rest.

It also allowed me to really recognize how much I have on my plate (full time job, consulting business on the side, full time single dad, getting married in three weeks and moving in with my future wife... I could go on). Once you see how many responsibilities you have it makes it much easier to react with the three greatest productivity tools of all time...

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
