”What’s 43 Folders?”
43Folders.com is Merlin Mann’s website about finding the time and attention to do your best creative work.

Someday/Maybe singletons?

What do you do with a simple idea that you want to do someday/maybe that is really a single action rather than a project? Do you create a S/M card/page for it? Do you have a master S/M list that you then have individual cards/pages with more detail? I thought of an idea for a blog article, but I certainly don't have time for it for at least another month. I suppose it could go on a "Blog Article Ideas" list, but what if it's a one of a kind S/M? Any ideas?

I suppose you could do...

I suppose you could do it either way. "Vacuuming the hallway" is sort of a mini-project that might take 10-20 minutes, depending on how big and dirty your hallway is. You may not have to do it right away, or it could wait until next Saturday. There's really one step involved, to vacuum the hallway. (Unless you count getting the vacuum cleaner out of the closet and then putting it back up, which I think is silly to put on a bullet list.)

I don't really think it would be overkill as long as it gets your attention at the appropriate time.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
