Filing without cabinets?
mcnicks | Apr 16 2006
Now that I have sorted out my filing and contexts at work, I am planning to do the same thing at home. My only problem is that I do not really have space for a filing cabinet. What I do have is a set of shelves, so I was pondering whether I could file stuff into a) box folders or b) transfer cases. Has anybody implemented a filing system without using a filing cabinet before? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Thx, 8 Comments

I think I would be a bit wary of moving away from an alphabetical filing system but it certainly looks interesting. I suppose if my shelves are wide enough I could just place labelled file folders directly onto them, labels to the outside rather than top, and keep them propped up using some good book thingies (*). D (*) My brain has gone: I mean those things you put on bookshelves to keep books upright. » POSTED IN:
