GTD in biglaw?
patrick | Apr 7 2006
I'm a 3rd year law student who just read GTD. I will be starting work in the litigation group of a 600-lawyer law firm that has a 2000/year billable-hour requirement. I'm wondering if there are any lawyers on this forum who have incorporated GTD into their practice, and how they set it up. I know we have Outlook and will be getting Blackberry/Treo devices, so I may as well use those tools. What has worked? Does being more efficient have the perverse effect of lowering your billable hours? 3 Comments

That's very true, that you can bill for more substantial stuff. I work at a very prestigious law firm (at the support level) and the attorneys are told not to do their own editing of documents because that bills at a lower rate; they are expected to do the work that bills at the highest rate and let someone else do the lower billing stuff. Getting all the administrative stuff handled quickly would allow you to bill more at a higher rate. » POSTED IN:
