Location of files?

I was dilegently going through my massive inbox this weekend...Still trying to get it to "Empty" when I realized that MOST of my "Stuff" is reference material... How important is it to have your file cabinet next to your desk? I have a smallish, one drawer hanging file cabinet that sits next to my computer. I was thinking of setting that one up with my tickler file, and then using the massive, heavy duty 5 drawer one for reference. The problem is that the big one doesn't fit in the room with the computer, it is in the next room. Do people find that part (Which David Allen insists is crucial) really THAT important? Thanks, SG 3 Comments

I think the key thing...Submitted by Douglas on March 27, 2006 - 2:19pm.
I think the key thing is that when you know where to find the files it doesn't matter where they are physically stored. I only keep the stuff I am using close at hand and the older material moved further away. At the extreme it may take a NA to go and get the file from the basement, attic or where ever. » POSTED IN:
