Say I have a small project like replacing the tires of my car which could look like this in a mission statement... Mission (should you choose to accept it) : replace tires Steps : Breaking this down to actions: Several of these I can begin with at once, the collecting information parts as get number, get tire type etc. But I can't call anyone until I got their numbers. But still all this work can be done in a day if I just pass the diffrent containers during the day. So should I add all these things to my contextlists even if they are not do-able right now? Or should I keep the undo-able things and add them at the daily review for the next day? Such a thing can drag a little project like this for days. How do you keep track of these things? I mainly use paperbased contextlists but any idea is welcome :) 8 Comments

I have gone through this...Submitted by juman on February 23, 2006 - 1:56am.
I have gone through this a bunch of times now to try to create a process for it and have come to this conclusion : If it is a project that actually is under a time pressure such as the tires (or maybe it is spelled tyres but as I am Swedish I might as well say bild?ck also :) ) have to be replaced by Friday and it is now Monday. That tells me I have to have called around byt Tuesday to have the time needed I write it down as a project and Schedule it with a pointer to the project plan. That makes me do it all in a serie to have it done when time is given. If it is not a pressured project it is probably just to use the "normal" ways with a daily review making sure that I am moving this project forward etc... Now it is just time to test this out but just being a Yellow/Orangebelt (2nd level) I have some things to put in order before getting to be a blackbelt :) /juman » POSTED IN:
