Several things that I suggest

  • Change the default vBulletin logo to something else, such as the default 43F logo, or remove it entirely, as it just indicates a stock installation of the forum software. It also looks just like the official forums, and we want a sense of uniqueness, don't we? :p
  • Place a link somewhere in the header to the homepage
  • Remove 'forum' from the censored words for the custom user titles. Pretty please? :D
That's all that I have for now :) Just the basic stuff to get things started :D

vBulletin Options -> General Settings -> Thread/Forum Read Marking Type is probably what you are looking for. I think you got it set to Inactivity/Cookie Based right now, but you want it to be one of the other two options. On my forum, I have it set to Database (automatic forum marking, although that is the most processor intensive.

Be sure to read the Help associated with that setting (click on the question mark icon next to it); you can experiment with each option. Automatic forum marking seems to make the most sense.
