"Perfect" iTunes equalizer setting
Merlin Mann | Aug 27 2007
I noticed a lot of people are favoriting this screen grab of the "Perfect" iTunes equalizer setting (I posted it to Flickr, so I won't keep forgetting it when I need it). Ever since I saw this in that Mac OS X Hints article, I've used it as my default equalizer in iTunes -- it seems to give a nice pop to MP3 tracks in particular. HOWTO and specific settings from the original article:

Trying for a positive tone......Submitted by Mike (not verified) on August 27, 2007 - 6:44am.
Trying for a positive tone... No pun intended. We teach our students to use minimal EQ, usually nothing more than 4 to 6 dB boosting, this helps avoid clipping. If you need to perform extreme EQ, try bumping down the overall level to compensate for the increase in signal energy. Also, negative EQ avoids problems with "comb filtering", and is considered "safer" than boosting frequency ranges. This should be regarded as a suggestion NOT a rule. As always, salt and pepper to taste. Ears, speakers, environments are all different, and even seasoned engineers will get it wrong sometimes. » POSTED IN:
