I'm a junior in high school, and I think I'm pretty appropriate to weigh into this. I'm way too busy with my life: student council, mock trial team, academic clubs, preparing for the SAT, my classes, and somehow having friends in there. I'm currently reading Getting Things Done... and not because I have a huge amount of actionable email (I just get college email, bah) or other finer points. Rather, a person needs to get stuff of of their minds in order to think clearly. But, you can't teach things like efficiency unless it's needed, in my opinion. A horrible and controversial example: forcing democracy on other nations. From my limited perspective, I can see that this doesn't work. It takes a perquisite of oppression for people to demand some sort of freedom. Likewise, it takes a perquisite of stress and efficiency to want to look for a system like GTD. Or maybe I'm wrong... but I think my peers would only scoff at being taught actual practical lessons. » POSTED IN:
