Notice the explicit emphasis on "time management" in the original post: "Learn to make a to do list. Learn to prioritize." Many high schools and even elementary schools require all students to have "planners" (often chosen by the school). At best, these schools have rediscovered the Day Timer- long after it has ceased to be a workable tool for most adults. At worst, it allows teachers and administrators to allocate blame: "Of coure Johnny is failing math, he isn't prioritizing correctly." This approach is quite different from the relaxed control David Allen and others advocate. In my opinion as a university professor with over 20 years of experience teaching and advising students, teaching effective life skills is more difficult than teaching any subject, and I am uncomfortable with the one-size-fits-all approach used in many schools today. » POSTED IN:
