Vox Pop: What's your "Mac Whine?"
Merlin Mann | Feb 28 2007
We've started a new feature over on MacBreak Weekly that I really hope becomes a regular thing: "_Mac Whines_!" Yeah, sure, I'm an unapologetic Apple fanboy (I, mean duh), but some stuff about my Mac experience makes me crazy. Have you got a beef with your Mac or OS X you want to shout from the shiny counter of the "Genius" Bar? Yeah, me too. I'll open with:

@Nicole: For switching between different windows...Submitted by aarony (not verified) on March 2, 2007 - 12:01pm.
@Nicole: For switching between different windows within one application you can use Command + tilde (~). This is the key right above the tab key most of the time and is nearly as easy as using Command + Tab to switch between applications. Hopefully I understood your request properly. My gripe: iPhoto. The file structure it uses is weak and a hassle; on occasion it will duplicate photos and rename the files starting with "Roll 354 - 29" for no reason I can understand (please help if you know what's going on here); I've had a number of photos lose the original photo so when clicking to view it I see a missing photo frame and an exclamation mark; no simple way I've found to do a quick and dirty back up to DVD/CD of just my originals. I feel trapped by iPhoto. I no longer trust it to keep my photos safe, but dread the thought of moving to another app and unknowingly missing a few of my 5000 photos. Of those who have successfully migrated away from iPhoto, any one care to share an easy and loss-proof way to do so? Thanks. -A » POSTED IN:
