We've started a new feature over on MacBreak Weekly that I really hope becomes a regular thing: "_Mac Whines_!" Yeah, sure, I'm an unapologetic Apple fanboy (I, mean duh), but some stuff about my Mac experience makes me crazy. Have you got a beef with your Mac or OS X you want to shout from the shiny counter of the "Genius" Bar? Yeah, me too. I'll open with:

I have two: 1) Video on the mac sucks. It really does, especially up against a PC. I know whining about WMP and bashing MS is always in vogue on the mac side of the house -- but seriously. I actually keep a parallels instance around for the express purpose of looking at videos. Apple needs to get better support for WMP. They also need to officially support a few more codecs with Quicktime (DiVX especially). They also need to put a little work into goddamned quicktime already. I still haven't figured out what my 7.0 Pro upgrade got me, except for interface tweaks. 2) That a volume not being available can actually bring the entire OS to it's knees. Seriously, I thought the argument for a UNIX based OS was that that stuff didn't happen? » POSTED IN:
