Vox Pop: What's your "Mac Whine?"
Merlin Mann | Feb 28 2007
We've started a new feature over on MacBreak Weekly that I really hope becomes a regular thing: "_Mac Whines_!" Yeah, sure, I'm an unapologetic Apple fanboy (I, mean duh), but some stuff about my Mac experience makes me crazy. Have you got a beef with your Mac or OS X you want to shout from the shiny counter of the "Genius" Bar? Yeah, me too. I'll open with:

This is a great list so far. I have a couple that I don't see scanning the list here: In address book, when printing labels, there appears to be no way to choose the row and column where you want to print the labels. I typically want to print only 2-3 at a time, so this leaves you with multiple partially used label sheets. There's no fix for this on the apple forums, and this should be a basic functionality within address book. My current fix is to use MS Word, which allows you to pick the row and column, but this adds multiple steps when transferring text from address book to Word. Dashboard widgets should be able to be placed directly on the desktop. I don't find having them in the separate layer to be useful, and I almost never use it for this reason. I know there are third party applications (e.g. Yahoo Widgets), and you can set it to developer mode as well. I've tried both of these, and neither is ideal. Yahoo's iCal widgets, for example, are buggy. Widgets on the desktop in Dev Mode stay on top of all the other open windows. I also want to add to the call for a good money app. I use my Macs for my small business, and use Parallels with XP for one primary reason - Quicken. I want a Mac money app that handles business accounts, etc, and is well supported. I don't know that I expect that it will be free - I'll pay extra for it if it works well. » POSTED IN:
