Finding "Getting Things Done Fast"

You could argue that the holy grail in GTD media these days is the woefully out-of-print "Getting Things Done FAST" CD set that DavidCo put out a few years ago. It's eight (8) CDs of audio material covering the popular multi-day seminar that David did a few years back.

A few weeks ago, I scored a super-rare copy for myself (Thanks, Rick!), and I have to say it's really, really good. Totally goes into every corner of the five phases, amounting to the kind of Intermediate GTD lessons -- heavy on the "hows" and "whys" -- that so many people crave in their GTD setup and practice. An excellent product (weird 80s jazz intros notwithstanding).

The bad news is that, as I said, it's deeply out-of-print, and used copies are rare as hen's teeth -- clung to by their owners like Faberge eggs containing Honus Wagner cards.

No, I won't burn you a copy, so don't ask, BUT, via local boy, Paul Ortman, I'm reliably informed that the set is available in both CD and Cassette versions at the Half Moon Bay Library, just south of SF. Makes me think you should check around your own local libraries and see what you can scare up.

It's definitely worth poking around for -- and, as I've said to the DavidCo folks before, I really hope they'll put out something similar in the future. Would be a terrific resource for new folks as well as the true believers.

Update 2006-09-11 08:35:45 - Chanpory over at LifeClever goes all Sam Spade to find out which public libraries have "GTD FAST."

I’d love a copy too, but it’s virtually impossible to find. It’s not even on eBay right now. Fortunately, through the power of the internets, I’ve located eight public libraries that carry it. This means you can check out it for free, instead of waging an expensive bloody bidding war when it shows up on eBay again more »

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
