Open Thread: What's your favorite minimalist wallet?

Like most 43F articles on economical carriage and stowage, the Jimi post attracted a lot of interest. Makes me think it's time for an open thread: What's your favorite minimalist wallet? Jimi? Slimmy? Moneyclip? Coin purse? Goin' commando? Spill in comments (and feel free to link to canonical product pages or price compar-i-nators like Froogle).

My own winner for minimalism? Starting before a trip to New York in the late 80s, I started wrapping my driver's license, ATM card, and a bill or two in a couple of my Goody pony tail holders (shut up). I think that was my wallet for at least the next two years -- until I got my first real job and decided to go cowhide again. Still, it remains one of my favorites.

kadavy - I hear ya....

kadavy - I hear ya. It's really hard to slim down beyond what feels like the basics. One thing you can do about the Safeway club card is just not bring it. One thing all the safeways in Denver do is let you just type in your phone number to get the discounts. It works at the gas pump or inside the store. I wish all the grocery stores did that with their discount cards.

I'm currently down to these:

  1. Drivers License
  2. ATM
  3. Credit Card
  4. Health Insurance Card
  5. Company Credit Card
  6. American Homebrewers Association Membership Card (very thin and good for discounts at pubs)
  7. Tax Exempt Certificate (I work at a non profit)

So, if I go to king soopers (the other big supermarket here in denver) I don't get any of their club discounts, unless my wife is along. I've been considering scanning the barcode of the various club cards and printing a single paper-thin club card that I could use at all the places, and just tell the cashier which one to scan. But, in reality, all I'm missing right now is the king soopers card. King Soopers, like the others, does make a keychain version, but I hate having extra stuff on my keychain too. So, my plan now is to scan in the barcode, print, cut it out and tape it to the back of a card I already keep in my wallet anyway. Grr... it shouldn't have to be so complicated.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
