iTunes' built-in podcasting; revisiting public radio podcasts and RSS feeds

Apple - iTunes

With iTunes 4.9 you can now browse, find, sample and subscribe to thousands of free podcasts — radio shows delivered over the Internet to your computer — then sync them to your iPod and listen anytime, anywhere.

Perhaps this is also a good day to revisit our links to indices of non-commercial and public radio podcasts. If you haven’t visited yet, it’s basically a meta-index I’ve been building of places that point to podcasts from NPR, PRI, the BBC, and regional stations, so there’s tons of good stuff in there.

PublicRadioFan.com’s podcast directory is still my favorite, just because I love the larger PRF site, which includes detailed listings of “what’s on now” that should be a regular stop if you enjoy public radio.

Remember, also, that NPR has handy RSS feeds of their upcoming show listings. Learn who’s coming up on Fresh Air and ATC early on and right in your favorite reader.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
