Board Checkin: What do we think so far?
Merlin Also | Nov 5 2005
So, we're a skosh over two weeks in to the new board, and I'm wondering what you guys think so far? Is this a keeper or do you like the Google Group better? Maybe something else? Anything you'd like to see different here? One thing--as I promised, if we decide to keep making a go of this, I'll invest a bit of time to get RSS feeds for each area. To me that segmenting is potentially the biggest draw. The way I plan to do it would take just a bit of work, but I'm happy to do it if we like the board in general and want to carry on. Consider this an open thread for ideas and a place to share your thoughts on what we ought to do next. Thanks for visiting and sharing your brain with us all. 43 Comments

I have a really effective system set up for monitoring/reading e-mail based mailing lists, and like the "push" approach rather than having to regularly visit a website to keep up to date with forums. I subscribe to 40+ mailing lists/forums, and would never keep up to date with them all if I had to trawl through loads of websites. However I think out of all web-based forums I've seen, this is the most flexible and usable. I'd like to see a setting somewhere to auto-subscribe to all threads, rather than on a thread-by-thread or forum-by-forum basis, so I can read all postings to all threads via my e-mail client. As long as the e-mails get sent out with sensible headers/subject so that my e-mail software can thread the messages, I'd be a happy man! Neil » POSTED IN:
