I wanted to be able to lay out my 3x5 next action cards on my desk, but I do not have much space. After seeing the DIY bleacher on another thread, I started thinging about ways of making my cards stand vertically. The obvious place to use was under my monitor. For some reason, Dell cover their monitors with some evil non-stick plastic which makes it impossible to attach post-its, bluetack and so on. I think it makes the monitor easy to clean but it is _really_ annoying. So I came up with the idea of attaching bulldog clips to the bottom of my monitor. After doing some testing I decided that brute force glueing / nailing would not work (and would invalidate the warranty). I needed some way of temporarily attaching hooks to hang the bulldog clips from. Enter paperclips. I bent the inner 'end' of the clip out and then up, to form a rudimentary hook. Then I pushed the hook bit through some sticky tape, so that the tape ended up sticking to the rest of the paperclip. Finally, I taped the clip to the bottom of my monitor leaving the hook sticking up and out. And voila, I can attach a small bulldog clip to my @Computer card, then hang it from my monitor. If I hang it using the front bit of the clip, the card ends up leaning towards me so that it is easier to read! Cool, huh? David 6 Comments
